Lively discussion is the hallmark of the Book Group. We always manage to mix personal experiences, current events, history, and more into our conversation based on the book choice for the month. Our monthly discussions are spirited, yet respectful, and each is led by at least one “presenter.” Of course, we also leave time for casual chatter over snacks provided by volunteer hostesses.
Books for the year are chosen and posted on this website prior to the first meeting in September. We seek to enrich our reading through a diverse selection including novels, historical fiction, current nonfiction, at least one classic, and more. Serious readers, occasional readers, cautious readers, book lovers, and seekers of new authors are all welcome. You are encouraged to attend as many or as few of our sessions as you wish.
All regular meetings are at the WCSM Clubhouse on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, beginning at 10:30 am. Click the link below for this year’s schedule of titles and meeting locations.
Because of the coronavirus the Book Group has a revised schedule. Please click the link below for the updates.
Wow! What a magnificent discussion we had with author Casey Cep at our April Book Group Zoom meeting. Casey Cep is the author of “Furious Hours: Murder, Fraud, and the Last Trial of Harper Lee” and she graciously agreed to participate in our book group discussion. She was articulate, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and kept us all engaged for an hour and a half. We learned about her research, her interests, her writing, and her next book. What a delight it was to have her join us! Many thanks to Casey and facilitator Monica DeMarco for a wonderful morning!
