Carepacks – Carepacks, a weekend food program aimed at preventing hunger among Talbot County’s most economically vulnerable students, serves students at ALL Talbot County elementary schools. A number of our members assist in stuffing Carepacks. Below is a picture from the December 2019 event.

Scholarships – Each year a scholarship is awarded to one or more St. Michaels High school seniors by the Women’s Club. Over the past forty years, over $200,000 has been given to deserving students planning to attend a four year college or university, a community college, or a vocational/technical school.

The Scholarship Committee has developed a strong relationship with the St. Michael’s High School Guidance Counselor. He has been instrumental in encouraging well qualified students to apply. These top students not only have strong G.P.A.’s but have also been highly recommended by both their teachers and employers. Our $6,000 scholarship is held in high regard by the St. Michaels students.

With the ever increasing cost of a college degree each dollar we give plays a significant role to launch these hard working students. Our committee appreciates all the creative ways the club raises money. It is definitely a challenge to select from so many qualified candidates.

We hope we can resume the tradition of having the scholarship recipients attend the Annual June luncheon of the Woman’s Club so everyone has an opportunity to congratulate these outstanding students in person.

Career Connection Community Project (CCC) is a joint effort with St. Michael’s High School, our Women’s club and St. Michaels Rotary. The CCC mentors work  with Juniors and Seniors to write resumes, cover letters and essays for job application and further education. Club members work with students on interview skills to include personal strengths and weaknesses, professional behavior and appearance in college or business environments.
